CLEANROOM / PHARMACEUTICAL / HEALTCARE FACILITIES

OUT OF SIGHT, NOT MIND

“Legionnaires disease got its name from the 1976 incident in Philadelphia where 34 members of the American Legion attending a convention died. After much investigation it was determined that bacteria was distributed by the air conditioning system that had not been maintained, serviced or cleaned.”

Introduction:

The function of a duct cleanroom environment/pharmaceutical or healthcare facility is to convey air between two points via the AHU/FAN and room to be conditioned. These duct work systems function as the respiratory system of the facility. Over time, contaminants like dust, dirt, fibres, dander, skin particles etc…. will accumulate in the duct work. This makes the duct work an ideal breeding ground for mould, spores, pollen, bacteria and other microbes and organisms.

The Problem/Risk:

Each time the duct work/AHU is turned on, these disease causing particles become air borne in the cleanroom environment/pharmaceutical or healthcare facility, affecting the health and comfort of the people present.

The Solution:

Duct cleaning due to the aforementioned, has therefore become a vital and until recently complex aspect of infection control in hospitals/clean rooms.
To mitigate this problem our unique rotating brush system has revolutionised the way in which infection in ductwork can be controlled.

The Process:

  • A Heavy Duty vacuum rig is connected to duct work that requires cleaning, to collect harmful contaminants, dust etc… this dust is filtered and collected into a specially designed housing unit which incorporates hepa like filters to ensure no dust particles become air borne in occupied rooms.
  • A small access hole is cut into the duct work and a rotating brush is then inserted. Due to the unique nature of the Airduct Hygenics rotating brush system it enables us to clean up to 30m of duct work from the one position. The rotating brush system also incorporates an auto reverse technology to ensure thorough cleaning of the duct work.
  • Digital imaging of the duct work will be provided on a before and after basis.
  • To ensure there is a reduced threat of infection being spread to occupants by means of air from the duct work system, an alcohol based solution can be gently fogged/misted into the duct at various intervals by means of access doors. This will be provided in a bid to kill any germs/organisms on the internal surface of the duct work.
  • Once the duct has been cleaned all access holes are sealed and normal work procedures can re commence i.e. AHU turned on.
  • Certification of duct cleaning in accordance with HVCA TR/19 (internal cleanliness of ventilation systems), will be issued upon completion.

IF YOU FEEL THAT THIS SPECIALIST SERVICE MAY BE APPLICABLE TO YOUR HOSPITAL/INDUSTRY WE WOULD BE MORE THAN GLAD TO INSPECT THE VENTILATION SYSTEM AND SUBMIT A FREE QUOTATION
